Hilton Hotel CP

Middleton Hotel

Cobb & Co Coach

Not in Draught

Saturday; On the road to Boulia stopped off for another overnight stop @ Poddy Creek this is a roadside stop on bitumen. Not a lot happening here normal afternoon activities; Bob rearranging his trailer and setting up the camp fire, Dannie looking for sun to keep her warm while reading her book, Trevor relaxing and watching Bob and me inside caravan seeking warmth and still feeling unwell.

Sunday; Arrived @ the Middleton Hotel and park our vans across the road @ an area called the Hilton Hotel??

The Middleton Hotel was an original Cobb @ Co stop but all that is left is the hotel which was back in those days a homestead for travellers on the coach.

Off to have lunch and a beer at the real hotel (Middleton) owned and run by Lester and Ma - well they are the entertainment such a funny pair but although they act as if they have no idea what they are doing they a really on the ball. Lester runs the bar mainly and Ma provides the food - beer cold, food good.

Back to the vans for the afternoon as the traffic coming by and stopping at the hotel is just amazing @ least 20 vans per 30 minutes. All coming back from the Big Red Bash based on the colour of their vehicles.

Some are staying here the night and before long there is around 40 caravans parked up.

Next day we are off to Boulia

Lester tells us that they are not in drought as they has some rain a couple of weeks ago well that is interesting as I can not see one blade of grass anywhere just red dirt???

Men head back to the hotel for a few beers and a laugh; Dannie has found another travelling buddy to talk to as I'm not much of a travelling mate at the moment but should get better soon - just not handling the dust and the cold.

Off to Boulia today.
