Jeff and Cheryl New England Trip travel blog

We began today with breakfast, this time at Denny's a block from the hotel. That finished, we headed out the hour and a quarter trip to Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame. OK, I'm guessing I lost some of you as soon as I said that.

We arrived at Cooperstown at about 11:00AM. We had been told that parking in Cooperstown is expensive and hard to find. That was right. On street parking (if you can find it) is 2 hour maximum, and parking lots are pricey and fill up quickly. However, I read on the Hall's website that there is free parking just outside of town, with a shuttle trolley to take you to town. That sounded like something to try. We followed the directions and found the parking lot about 3 or so miles outside of town. We parked (for free) and waited about 5 minutes for the shuttle. The ride was $2.00 per person for all day rides. We arrived at the Hall about 5 minutes or so later. Definitely worth it!

The Hall itself was wonderful. We got there at about 11:30, broke for a 1 hour lunch at 2:00 and finally left at 7:00. It was a blast. Even at this, we had to skim over some of the exhibits. Just too much to see in a day.

The highlights for us were the lockers representing each of the major league teams showing uniforms or other items from some recent highlights, the extended exhibit on women in baseball, the on site library, and of course the Hall of Fame Gallery with the plaques of each inductee. That was wonderful. Even the gift shop was fun. Just before we left we went to the 3rd floor to see the video of Abbott and Costello doing "Who's on First?" Always gets me laughing.

We went out of the Hall for lunch to a local restaurant and had (what else?) Hot Dogs and Fries!

Once we got the trolley to take us back to our car, we drove home, got a quick snack for dinner and called it a day.

Tomorrow, Ausable Chasm.
