Welcome to Rajasthan INDIA travel blog

Jodhpur, one of the most colourful cities of Rajasthan, lies at the edge of the Thar Desert. It’s a city whose royal past can be seen in its forts, palaces, and havelis. Its colourful bazaars are shopping delights and places where you can get a taste of Rajasthani local street food. Though there are numerous tourist attractions in Jodhpur, the best ones can be toured in a day. If you have 24 hours to visit Jodhpur then this might be your perfect itinerary.

Breakfast at Gypsy Restaurant

You can start your day with a sumptuous breakfast in Gypsy, one of the finest restaurants in Jodhpur. Gypsy serves a wide range of dishes from chaats to pasta. But the Marwari Thali that you get here is simply out of this world!! It’s an assortment of parathas, chapattis, dals, veg curries, served with chutneys, farsans, sweets and buttermilk. The food is served unlimited, with additional servings to suit your hunger and taste.

Morning Tour of Mehrangarh Fort & Jaswant Thada

Mornings are the best time to visit Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada. Both of these landmarks are worth visiting for their incredible architecture. Mehrangarh Fort gives you the best panoramic views of Jodhpur, and its palaces and temples will amaze you with their exquisite craftsmanship and intricate architecture. The white marble structure of Jaswant Thada is an amazing sight to behold in the surrounding greenery. The impressive memorial is close to Mehrangarh Fort and contains portraits of Rajasthani rulers.

Lunch at Umaid Bhawan Palace & Visit the Museum

While there are many restaurants in Jodhpur, fine dining at Risala, the luxury restaurant in Umaid Bhawan Palace is a relishing culinary experience you can have in Jodhpur. The luxury restaurant has royal interiors, spectacular lighting, and opulent furnishings. Signature Rajasthani delicacies and exotic dishes from world cuisine are prepared by well-known chefs. You can visit the museum in Umaid Bhawan Palace, which has a rare collection of trophies, clocks, crockery, weapons, and other antique items.

Plus, I would suggest you to book a taxi from Rajputana Cabs Jodhpur, as they continously provide Jodhpur to Jaisalmer taxi service (View details) and Jaisalmer to Jodhpur taxi service (View details).

Evening Walk at Mandore Gardens

The beauty of Mandore Gardens can be enjoyed best in the evenings. A walk among the lush green environs, amidst the chirping of birds, is a refreshing activity, which can take away all the tiredness of sightseeing. The cenotaphs of erstwhile rulers are the best architectural marvels that you can see in Jodhpur. The intricate carvings and royal designs, sculpted from red sandstone, are so beautiful, that you can capture their images all day long. Though the cenotaphs are abandoned for many centuries, they still are in pretty good condition.

Shopping at Clock Tower Market

The markets of Jodhpur are such fantastic places that even if you don’t shop, and have a stroll, it will give the same excitement as sightseeing. The street-side Clock Tower Market is one such bazaar where you get the finest of spices, hand-woven shawls, embroidered sarees, flavoured teas, wooden souvenirs, antique furniture and other handicraft items. You will have to bargain a bit, but the effort will be worth it.
