After breakfast at the Fat Mermaid, we went to the two museums; museum number one, which gave a lot of history about the area and the Exxon Valdez disaster.
We then went to the Fourth of July parade which was was enjoyed by all. We then went to museum number two, which gave a lot more information about the 1964 earthquake, old Valdez, and the move of the town after the earthquake.
We drove to the old town site, where we found the locations of where the post office had been as well as other buildings. Probably the main reason that they had decided to move the town was that it had subsided about 9 feet. This made it a lot more susceptible to flooding. They also said that it had moved horizontally about 30 feet.
We then went to the base of Valdez glacier. This was a nice relaxing beautiful day, topped off with a grilled burger with all the trimmings.
