Head down, pedal hard! travel blog

I am less than two weeks before I depart for Vancouver to begin my trip across Canada along with 20 other cyclists. This is something that I have thought about and considered since the mid 80's. A chance meeting 3 years ago with David Schamber (TduC 2012) in Mazatlán, Mexico has brought this challenge to reality. He invited me into a group with other TduC alumni (Ron Josey Dartmouth, NS and Michael Bourque, Shediac, NB) for a ride to Ottawa for Canada's 150 July 1, 2017. The lessons learned from them for me are invaluable as I prepare for this challenge. They have shared their journals, pack lists and general tips that will allow me to make this a rewarding experience! This is a supported ride, however, I will need to carry whatever I will need throughout the day, lunch, water, tools, parts, etc...and yes even rain gear??
