Hello all. We're off on an adventure to Asia. Starting in Hong Kong, then to Japan to meet our friends Thel & John from Australia, and then to ??? Note - Trip Journal seems not capable of crossing International Dateline going west ! Insists we go east from Seattle to Hong Kong though I assure you we did travel west !
Flew Austin to Seattle & then 13 hours direct to Hong Kong. Arrived ~ 18:00 which is actually a good time as after quickly clearing immigration & customs, riding the Express train to Central Station in Hong Kong and shuttle bus to hotel we could gladly assume prone/horizontal position for the first time in 28 hours ! What a welcome change of orientation.
We're on the 32nd floor of the Ibis Hotel Sheung Wan near the Ferry Terminals in Central Hong Kong (which is on an island). View from our room looks east into the megatropolis of buildings built from the shore line up into the hills rising to the south.
Awakened to the sunrise this morning feeling refreshed and anxious to move/walk. So, we proceeded to the pedestrian walkway near the shoreline and the ferry terminals, and headed east to the tram to Victoria Peak (the steepest funicular railway in the world). Great views of the city and Kow Loon (on the mainland) cross the harbor from the peak @ 400 meters.
Time for bed now as tomorrow morning will be an early one so we can go on a walking tour in Hong Kong.
Ciao for now.
