Moving day we left Boulder City and drove 300 miles across the Mojave Desert one big Desert to Bakersfield, California at the Elks Lodge #266 $20.00 a night with only 30 amp electric, we will stay here for an overnight then move over to the coast for a week or so more to follow stay tuned.

Sunday 5/6/2018 thru Sunday 5/13/2018

Today we moved from an overnight in Bakersfield to Atascadero, California 120 miles to the Elks Lodge #1298 $35.00 per night. We will reside here for the week before moving on, a nice setup with full hookups a small bar area with a larger dining area. After getting setup we drove over to Moro Bay located on the Pacific noted for the large rock sitting in the bay. When we left Atascadero the temp was 81 degrees when we got over the hill to Moro Bay about 20 miles away the temp was 60 degrees. The fishing boats were in and cleaning lots of fish so the fishing must be pretty good here in Moro Bay.

We spent a couple of days visiting Winery’s and checking out all the vineyards, acres and acres of grape vines a stop at J Lohr winery had over 4500 acres of grape vines. The Opolo Winery also had a distillery so while Barb tasted wine I tried out the Liquors at the distillery then I had to drive home. The next day we spent at Avila Beach although cools temps their were a few mostly naked women sun bathing on the beach. After a nice lunch in town overlooking the ocean we headed for home after a good day on the beach.

On the 9th we drove back to the ocean and traveled North on the 1 to a Elephant Seal rookery where we found hundreds of seals stretched out on the beach growing new hair and skin according to the info they will spend a month on the beach not eating growing new skin and hair. We stopped at a couple of winery’s before heading home.

We didn’t spend a lot of time in the Lodge but on Friday we went in for the fish fry and cocktails, the food was very good although expensive for an Elks Lodge I ordered a Tanqueray Martini for $9.00 only one. Most Lodges are not quite so expensive but it was a good Martini. On Mothers day we head out for Visalia, Ca. about 120 miles away so will be a short days drive gas prices are in the $3.30 to $3.60 range although have seen over 4 dollars in some areas.
