Our guiding angel....

The guide to end al guides...maybe

The pad with a view

Auckland from afar

A lovely Auckland chard....

A wet misty night view of Auckland ...

Well the day started at 5.00am Brissie time. My dear hubby dropped me at the airport where I met up with the fabulous Dunnett connection of the Dunnett and Dagg Amazing Adventures....

Off to Virgin we toddle for check- in to discover that our booking is actually an Air NZ .... no wonder we couldn’t check in n the online thingy. Off to Air NZ we go and at last success. Breakfast at Coffee Club and did not live up to the standard of Coffee Club Cleveland! Go Jack!!!!

Arrive in Auckland to the local time of 3.30 after an interesting flight. Karen booked all three tickets identically yet Seat 9C had free food and movies but 9 A and B got neither. How does that work? In the end Karen got breakfast to share Nd free movies and I paid to watch 3 bill boards in Ebbing Missouri.... a great movie. Adrian , it has the woman from Fargo and I want to watch again on a real screen.....

Grab the shuttle bus to get our hire car ... a Hyundai Sante Fe... no GPS so tried to book one at $8 a day. Ended up with BMW X1 with built in GPS upgrade. Gotta be happy with that .

Put address for tonight’s accommodation booked in Booking.com by Karen and ended up in East AucklNd for what we thought was a home stay. But no! We get there and it is in middle of suburbia and a house rented by a couple who have been there a week.... bugger! So we grab the books I acquired out of the Welcome to Auckland stand and start looking for tonight’s digs..... after an hour of driving and no success having tried ringing and travel SIMs not co-operating we ended up in Bayswater in a lovely room.

There is a restaurant here and after all our trials and tribulations we ventured upstairs for dinner and it was spectacular with a lovely Auckland chard and a great view to boot.

Tomorrow we are heading into 800 Words territory and visiting Weld. There are a few wineries along the way with our acccommodation tomorrow night in the beautiful Pakiri Beach Holiday Park before we begin our trek towards Rotarua on Monday.
