|Described by many as the most beautiful city in the world it is hard to argue. Cape Town has Table Mountain as a backdrop and the Atlantic Ocean all round it - really very lovely.
Arrived at our hotel, The Table Bay Hotel, late afternoon Sunday. A very comfortable hotel on the V&A Waterfront where all the action is. Our room looks out to sea with a view of Robbin Island.
Monday saw our last organised tour with the group. It was a glorious day with not a cloud in the sky. First stop was to the top of Table Mountain which you get to on the cable car. The views are amazing . We then carried on down towards the Cape driving along Chapmans Peak a road that clings to the side of the cliff face with once again stunning views.
We arrived at Simons Town for lunch but before lunch wandered along to Boulders Beach where there is a penguin colony. Another species to cross off the list on this trip!
After lunch carried on down to the Cape of Good Hope and saw where two oceans meet, namely the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
We had a really good day.
Yesterday, now that the official tour is over we had a relaxing day walking around the Waterfront in the morning and by the pool in the afternoon. We said our farewells to Fiona and Heather, the Scottish ladies in our group, who were heading home. Ray and Jan also left us for they were staying an extra week at a hotel on the beach outside Cape Town, we will see them again tomorrow evening as the 8 of us remaining have booked an evening out at a restaurant that has live music and dancing! Should be fun.
