We arrived in Melbourne around 4:00; took the Red Skybus into town. Traffic was bad. We got to our hotel around 6:15. We were given keys to the 24th floor, apt. 245; 183 City Road. We had to use the key in the elevator, and when we unlocked the apt. Door, there was a family there!!!! So we went back to the central office to discover we had been in the wrong building. Interesting, the key worked in both doors!

We went to the correct apartment. It is great, 24th floor, and a spectacular view of the city!!! It was warm on our balcony due to air conditioner, so we sat in front of floor to ceiling windows. We have an apartment with bedroom, full kitchen. First stop was the grocery!!! Eating out is extremely expensive here, so we are having breakfast snd some dinners here. We bought fresh salmon, chicken tenders and some chinese side dishes and salad stuff as well as breakfast and wine.... $100.

Saturday is sight seeing and Sunday is the Great Ocean Road Tour, and Monday to Tas.

We took the hop on and off bus all the way around Melbourne. It was fun to see the city. Then we hopped on a river cruise to the mouth of the harbor and back.

We saw Federation Square, had wine at a bar on the river. We went in two art galleries. The first was an smazing building, And had an aboriginal art show. I think Gary is sick of aboriginal art, and I may have had my share too. The Second art museum had a show of a hundred contemporary artists from around the world and it was amazing. I took lots of photos. I have been amazed at how crowded the museums have been. Most of them are free. But there are hundreds of people and families and children enjoying the art. Wow !!!

It sprinkled during the afternoon, and turned quite cold. We were happy to get back to our apartment and get ready for our tour tomorrow!

To bed for 7:00 shuttle pickup! Ocean Road hete we come...
