first beer in Belem LOL

A early morning trip to the airport for my flight to Belem a 3 1/2 hour flight, then a short taxi trip to my hotel. Got checked in the off by local bus to the old part of Belem. Belem was founded in 1616 and is the port and gateway to the lower Amazon region it is 100KM from the Atlantic ocean and has a population of about 1.5 million people. The trip to the old area by local bus was quite a trip cost 3 real about $.10 cents got off the bus in the Ver-o-Peso area which is a very large open air market selling just about everything.Lots of local people not many tourists, walked around the area and headed to the Fort de Castelo a old 17th century fort had just finished walking about when the rain started and did it pour for a bit, lucky I was under cover, LOL. When I was leaving the fort I met a guy who had just drop off a couple people at the fort, started chatting with him was a uber driver and he took me on a trip in the city, great at no charge. Then walked around a bit more then took a taxi back to my hotel, just kick back until the opened for dinner. Tomorrow I leave Brazil and head to Suriname. My next country on my list will number 95.
