Night time lakeside bar street.

|This morning Julie messaged me to let me know that she, and her Mum and Dad were on the bus heading to the Zhaoqing East train station. Her parents will go back to Guangxi Province, to their hometown of Liuzhou, and Julie will go back to Foshan, to meet up with friends, before heading back to Liuzhou also, to go back to work.
Mid afternoon, I headed out, and got a bus to Melrose's house. It was time to catch up again, and she does not work on Monday. When I got there, Hugo was very, very excited to see me again, and it took a while before we could get him sitting down.
Melrose was surprised at what I brought for her. I had found a shop selling seeds near Tianning Nanlu, and got her a packet each of strawberry and eggplant seeds. I hope that we can discover what time is the best for planting, so that she might have some success with them! I think that if I was in my own place at the moment, I would have things growing in pots, but that is not to be, so Melrose is who I can give these things too!!
Late afternoon, we decided to go for a walk, and set off from her house, toward the lake. On the way, she took me through a huge modern shopping plaza, which has apparently just not taken off, for reasons unknown. But it is in this building where her school is. This is run by Derek, from Scotland, and his Chinese wife Layla. It seems to be doing quite well, but it will help that Layla has a very well connected family!! They use the property for a child minding centre during the day, on week days, then evenings and weekends it is an English training centre. On weekdays, their foreign English teachers are contracted out to nearby kindergartens. British International Education Centre (BIEC) is the name of their business.
We walked from there toward the lake again, and on the way, passed an interesting little bakery, where we bought some cookies, and other treats, two of each, so we could have a taste test on our way. All were passable, although I would not go very far out of my way to repeat the experience. I have had better!!
It was quite lovely walking along the lakeside past all the very elegant bars and restaurants. Possibly during the day, they would not be quite so striking, but at night, it is filled with colour, lights, but on a Monday night, a severe lack of action.
There are certainly an amazing array of imported cars around this area. Obviously no shortage of funds for some people. My favourite has to be the red Ford Mustang.
We kept on walking, and passed a lovely old bridge, which nowadays is all lit up at night, and the lights keep on changing colour! So lovely. When we got around the loop and back to the main road, we walked up, almost to the OYC Hotel, to get a bus into the city.
We both needed to go into RT Mart, only to get a couple of things, and once that was done, we went over the road (actually under the road!!) to find food. Melrose had told me about a little local place called Granma'a Noodle Kitchen, or something like that. We discovered that they sell the little hamburger things, but much better than the other shop. These are bigger, meatier and very tasty, but the same 10rmb price. $2 sounds like a real bargain to me, and well worth the money.
After eating, we went to the bus station and each got a bus home. I got one first, and was already home, when I had a message from Melrose saying she had only just got on a bus. She had had a long wait indeed. Sometimes it is impossible to judge the schedule. Just keeps us aware of going with the flow, and not stressing the small stuff!! I'm sure it is good for us, if we can just take it on board.
