Flynn's East bound and Down Xmas 2017 travel blog

Today the wind is blowing madly as we set out early to the city. Dropped off at Swanston Street and walked up to the Bourke St Mall where Keagan purchased a set of sunnies and Mum finally traded in her broken bag and purse. Further walk up to meet the old vintage City Loop Tram to the Melbourne Museum and IMAX Theatre. The Exhibition Centre next door was an impressive building!!

We spent 2.5 hours watching the latest Star Wars Movie in 3D on the 3rd largest screen in the world.....Wow! Walked back for some lunch in the Mall before heading back to the Melbourne Gaol. Mum thought it would be yet another gaol to look at but how wrong could she have been? The guided tour through the old police watch house had us lined up like criminals and put in cells. Mum was a criminal called Edith Boston who was charged with stalking. Highly entertaining before we then headed across to the old Melbourne Gaol which closed down in the 1920's. There we found the death mask of Ned Kelly, some further history of his time in the gaol and the gallows where they hanged him. As Keagan said, this ends the Ned Kelly story that we started on our Tasmanian trip at Glenrowan and Jerilderie 2 years ago!!!

We then caught the Loop Tram and toured around the city (sometimes in very cramped quarters with so many people on it) before finishing at Flinders St Station where it was a short walk up Swanston St to catch our tram home.

A big day but a good day.
