The Walcha Man

Arriving in Walcha

Wednesday 11 October 2017

On the road again and heading east to Walcha via Coonabarabran, Gunnedah and Tamworth.

Found a park in Mullaley between Coonabaraban and Gunnedah to have a rest stop. Not much in Mullaley, but quite a well kept park.

The Newell Highway was very busy with transports and caravans. Also a wide load that we just managed to get in front of as we left Tooraweenah.

We were pleased to leave all the heavy traffic behind at Coonabaraban as we left the Newell Highway and turned onto the Oxley Highway.

Managed to get a good park in Tamworth for a lunch break at Tamworth Central before continuing on up to Walcha, 1067 metres (3501 feet) above sea level.

Managed to dodge another wide load as we left Tamworth, so two lucky breaks today!

A nice well kept park here, and quite a few vans arriving this afternoon. Looks like mostly "overnighters" like us.
