9/28 Cave Lake, Ely Nevada

Nevada never ceases to amaze us. We love the discovery part of camping. There are so many surprises and Cave Lake State Park was one. This sweet little lake was quietly tucked in a picturesque river canyon of scrub junipers. At 7200 ft, evidently it is an ice fisherman's dream. All I can say is there were plenty of fish here today. It was a great campground with flush toilets, heated washrooms & showers.

As we traveled on Highway 50 we saw the sign that reminded us that it is known as the loneliest road in America. I don't know if it feels lonely exactly, more like peaceful. It is also designated as a scenic route which does make sense to me because of the breathtaking mountain ranges in the distance.
