Beautiful St. Patricks cathedral in NYC

Beautiful lunch in Central Park.

Had tickets for Top of the Rock this morning at 10.05 so were up and about reasonably early and walked on down to the Rockefeller Centre. No pro blems with any great queues as I think the height of the tourist season is all but over here.

In no time at all, we were up on the Top of the Rock gazing out over an amazing cityscape that is New York. Central Park is such a beautiful part of the city and New Yorkers are so lucky to have it. Saw two Chinese couples having their wedding photos taken with the city behind them, in particular Empire State Building.

The views out across the city certainly are better from The Rock than the Empire State Building. Went up that last time here along with all the other tourist sites so this trip has been all about theatre, food and having a great time with Eloise and then Vanessa and Brodie when they joined us.

Spent around an hour up top before back down to street level and a wander around the centre to take a peek at the ice skating rink being prepared for opening very soon by the look of it. Central Park not too far a walk away but had a quick look through the Lego Store in the Rockefeller Centre. Brodie bought a Halloween set for Holly. They certainly had some wonderful sets there that we just don’t see in Australia. There was a fantastic one of Sleeping Beauty’s castle from Disneyland. Beautiful price as well though at US$350.00 so decided to leave it there.

Bought ourselves some sandwiches just before Central Park and then headed to the Park to a nice grassy knoll overlooking one of the giant rock formations. Had a relax down on the grass and were entertained by a woman trying to video herself doing yoga poses. She would have spent 45 minutes moving or re-adjusting her iPhone trying to get the best angle shot. She moved to another area off the rock, then 10 minutes later was back and had another 15 minutes trying for the perfect shot. Don’t think it happened for her though. Such a beautiful park and a beautiful Fall day sitting there in the sunshine watching New York life passing us by.

Time to move on so onto the subway and back up towards Times Square where we had found a Houdini Museum. However, when we got there it was in a 3rd floor magic store, no great advertising around and we decided it was probably a little dodgy and gave it a miss. Did a little shopping in the area for some Adidas shoes for Eloise and a Pandora for Megzy, then some souvenir shopping along Broadway for the ladies.

Today was intended to be a wind down but somehow we managed to do 16km of walking by the time we headed back to our apartment for a break.

Headed out around 8.45 pm for dinner in a nearby restaurant called The Marshal. It was listed as modern American cuisine and was quite a nice evening to finish of our stay in New York. Had a quiet wander 9 blocks back to the apartment for a bit of a repack and tidy up ready to hit the bed.

9.20 flight to Hong Kong in the morning and not sure how long it will take to get to JFK so it will be an early wake up and start for us. Vanessa and Brodie taking an early walk over the Brooklyn Bridge before returning to the apartment to tidy up and then taking a bus to Baltimore to visit Vanessa’s friends.

Been a great week but, as usual, it has gone too quickly.
