Loading up for flight to Cairns.

September 30 We spent a pretty lazy day today enjoying our hotel room and the mall associated with the hotel. Room service consisted of David going to the mall and picking up food and bringing it back to the room. No problem as there were many places that offered breakfast options. One more excellent shower with the multiple shower outlets, then it was walk around the mall time. We were pretty good about not buying much, So after a largely chargeless walkabout, we checked out of our hotel and used the magical Octopus Card to check in our luggage at the Airport Express and zip on the express out to the airport.

We were traveling on Hong Kong Airlines, so we weren’t sure what to expect as far as accommodations. Again, thanks to my wonderful travel agent and spouse Susie, we were travelling business class. Would it measure up to the standard set by Cathay Pacific? Short answer was yes. We were given vouchers for the HK lounge, which offered champagne and snacks while we waited. We had seats that were more like individual compartments where we could stretch out and enjoy our 9 hour flight to Gold Coast airport, we had attentive service that met our needs. Good food, good wine and a decent nap.

This was an overnight flight with a slight time change, but it still turned over to October 1 while we were in the air.
