Garry & Denise - Africa 2017 travel blog

Up before dawn for our bush walk. Quick cuppa and a rusk which is a hard biscuit thing, quite yummy. Drive into the parkthen a 3 hour walk thru the bush, accompanied by 2 armed guides. Along the way our guide, Halala Elias Smiley, told us all about the different trees and plants and what they can before used for. There is a leaf to stop the runs (cant spell the big word), a leaf to do the oposite, a branch to clean your teeth

, elephant dung to burn and inhale the smoke, which helps clear your sinus, and it actually smells quite nice, and giraffe poo that is called bush chocolate that you can chew, then play a spitting game to see how far you can spit it. Did not partake in that one!

Didn't see many animals, just hippos in the river and giraffe, and a lovely sunrise, but it was such a beautiful way to start the day.

Back to camp by 9 for breakfast. Late morning we transferred fo our next camp called Katekani. Hardly a camp, it's luxury a room with a hugh balcony and our own small private pool on the deck overlooking the bush. There were only 2 other guests here so we had a cosy dinner with them and the manager, Charl. Charl gave us our scheduls for tomorrow and then we all said goodnight.
