On a tight schedule today to get to Addo for a booked river trip. Up early for breakfast at our B&B (or Lodge as they call them here). Packed the bags, a few happy snaps in the garden and couple of the "puppy" and off we go. A slight detour back to the river where we were hoping to have time to cross the suspension bridge but unfortunately the hike would take an hour and we thought that would make us late. So just had a bit of a wander and enjoyed the scenic coastline. Huge waves crashing on the beach. Great holiday spot for summer it has chalets and camping right next to the beach.

Back to the N2 highway and on to Addo. Found our Lodge and we were met by Etti who showed us to our Suite, yes we splurged a little here as we are staying 2 nights so we wanted the balcony by the river. A quick bite at the pub then back to get on the boat for a trip up the Sundays River.

Just Garry and I on the small boat, with Beau, a 70something local who is very knowledgeable about the area. First went to the river mouth where there are the biggest/longest sand dunes in the southern hemisphere. Then up river for many kms where we stopped and drifted peacefully while chatting with Beau about everything from local food and restaurants to SA history of wars, apartheid, politics, and environmental issues. Very interesting man.

Back home for a drink then dinner at a small local cafe for a very tasty hamburger.

Back in our suite now to catch up on the journal.... but not before the domestic chores of washing. A shower/bath combo is great for clothes washing.... swish the clothes around with your feet while having a shower. Very efficient!! So we now have a suite that looks like a chinese laundry.

Off to bed now - full day safari in Addo Elephant park tomorrow. 𿘊𿘊𿘊𿑍𿑍𿑍𿐘𿐘𿐘
