2017 Coastal and Murray River Trek travel blog

Thursday 7 September 2017

Time to farewell our friends at Millbrae Resort & Caravan Park. Our thanks to Peter & Pat for their hospitality and allowing our vans to "holiday" there for a week while we were all absent.

It is back to reality tonight that we had to think about dinner after having 10 days of being absolutely spoilt by the Miller & Owens families in Bowral and Canberra respectively.

Mavis & John arrived in Bowral around 9.15 am after a great week in Queenstown, New Zealand where they tell us it was much warmer than Sydney & Bowral. They also came with some lovely fresh fruit & veges courtesy of the Sydney boys.

Final packup and a cup of tea with Pat before heading off. Peter had gone to golf early, so it was an early farewell to him.

After checking out the best route to take, and as we were heading to Shoalhaven Heads, we decided to head towards Wollongong and travel down the coast road. Lovely views over Wollongong and Port Kembla as we descended towards the coast. The views around Kiama and surrounds were beautiful. Will certainly be spending time in that area while we are here.

We got a deal here of pay for 3 nights, stay for 4, and with our Top Tourist discount and an ensuite site, we are very comfy. We have a creek behind us, but are just a little way from the beach front. Decided to stay back a bit from the coastline because of the high winds that are still hanging around.

Our original plans to stay at the Berry showgrounds had to change as there is a "Small Farm Field Weekend " at the showgrounds this weekend and there is no chance of staying there!

We had a short drive around this afternoon after setup, lunch and a "quiet" time.

Will have a day out tomorrow, probably starting off in Berry.
