Another beautiful day.
Today, we got up and went our separate ways. After breakfast, Jean went down to the beach to a cabana and to walk the beach. And I sat in the Calypso Lounge downstairs and typed up the log for July 28 about our first day in Bogota ( it took most of the day).
About 12:15 Jean came over, and we both got a hot dog at Doggies (finally!). I enjoyed a Dover Dod with sauerkraut, caramelized onions with mustard. Jean ordered a hot dog with caramelized onions. After eating the hot dog, I returned to the room to continue writing the blog. Jean returned a little later to shower and wash her hair. She then relaxed until it was time for her Feet First appointment at the Red Lane Spa at 3:00.
When Jean returned from the spa, I went over to the Sandals Lounge to settle our bill. On the way over, I noticed that the chairs by the pool had pools of water. It must of rained sometime this afternoon. I also stopped at the front desk first to mail a post card, and saw that a bus load of new arrivals were disembarking. After settling the bill, I stopped at Cafe de Paris for coconut ice cream and peanut butter cookies.
We just relaxed, reading the newspaper, doing puzzles, and watching TV. Tonight at 6:00 was the Manager's Cocktail Party for everyone. We enjoyed the drink of the evening, a Hurricane. It was not well attended. We talked with Patrick. the resort manager, about his wife the ex ER nurse, and about when they lived in Cherry Hill, N.J. They then introduced the various department managers (shades of last Tuesday). Normally, this and the Caribbean Carnival Buffet & Beach Party take place on the beach. But, the weather forecast said do it indoors.
At 6:30 we walked over to the Bayside Restaurant to grab a table. We started with the indoor buffet of salads, desserts, vegetables, mussels, crab claws, etc. And they also had an outdoor grill for steaks and sautéed shrimp or scallops. While I was getting some scallops, the heavens opened up. Good call moving it inside! Our last night on a 30+ day vacation and it finally rains. When we were satiated, we made a small plate of desserts and took it up to the room for later.
We walked over to the pub to shoot pool, but another couple was shooting pool (bummer), so we went for a walk to find the departure lounge. On the way, we passed another party that appeared to be for a wedding. After finding and exploring the departure lounge, we walked back over to the Calypso Lounge and their pool table was available. So we played two rounds while watching the entertainment show of jugglers, fire twirlers, dancers in island garb and singers.
After the show we returned to the room to finish packing and relax. We played a game of cards before retiring.
