Where in the world are Wayne and Donna heading now travel blog

a church in the countryside

just a tad busy!

more our speed

Wayne biked into pickleball this morning and found that it was pretty much uphill almost the whole way to town. DOH!!! Once downtown he used the Confederation Trail, built on the abandoned rail line, to scoot across town to the courts. This trail that runs the entire length of PEI is almost flat and avoids the busy downtown area roads. We still intend to bike some of the more scenic sections once Donna heals. A little better showing on the courts today and despite the hot sun and swirling winds - it was a great way to spend the morning.

The afternoon was spent checking out the north coast beaches as well as the Twin Shores RV park which is THE place to RV on PEI don’t you know!! This park is humungous with almost 700 sites on a huge piece of land bordering some great beaches. There is even a beach shuttle here - an oversized golf cart to transport folks from the far-flung sites to the beach stairs!!! Trouble was there are so many people funneling onto the beach that it was like Coney Island with people crowded together as far as the eye could see. Definitely not for us but apparently very popular with others.

We then roamed the roads heading through Cavendish area towards North Rustico, taking many detours down narrow roads leading to one beautiful beach after another. “Barefoot in the Park” was the play at the waterfront theatre at 7:30pm so Donna suggested we splurge and eat at the restaurant on the pier. We were soon seated at a table with a great view of the harbour and folks walking the dock. With the sun streaming down and protected from the wind we enjoyed sipping frosty drinks and eating an excellent meal.

With time left before the show we headed to the beach where some kite boarders were flying back and forth along the water. This looks like so much fun as the winds zooms them along and then carries them into the air on their turns. Again, oh to be 20 years younger………..and with good ribs!!!

We make it back to the theatre just in time to enjoy a very enthusiastic rendition of this Neil Simon classic. It is dark as we drive into our campsite as there is just so much to do here that the days don’t seem long enough.
