Smith Falls

The automated lock

The moving bridge

Mel on the manual lock

We checked in at the Last Duel Campground in Perth at 1:30 pm yesterday. It was warm and humid which was nice after more rain along the drive from Havelock. After setting up Mel was happy to play with his satellite as he had no TV for awhile. I ventured out on my own to find a quilt shop and pick up a few groceries. I came home with milk and eggs but there wa no quilt shop. It had moved! This time it was the GPS that steered me wrong!

Today we walked the downtown area and what history there is in the buildings. I finally got to a farmer's market and got some fresh veggies. The Sunflower Bakery had amazing offerings and we picked up a few different breads.

Then we headed to Smith Falls and found a quilt shop on the way. Once there we spent most of our time watching the locks. There were two boats and a sailboat that went through. We watched the automated and manual locks as well as the bridge move out of the way for the sailboat. Mel took another route back to Perth and we saw more locks. We also found a place selling raspberries and blueberries. Good thing there is no room in the freezer or we would have bought ice cream too!

It appears that this area has been flooded twice already this spring/summer so hopefully not while we are here.

We will stay here until Tuesday giving the weekend warriors a chance to get home before we hit the highways. Have a great weekend everyone!
