Glenorchy... Again!

We arrived back from Milford and immediately went on another small but amazing road trip to a place called Glenorchy. Actually there is nothing to do in Glenorchy but the drive there is so stunning that's it's worth it for the drive alone.

The entire time the journey followed the beautiful lake and mountains and we were able to get some breathtaking views and amazing pictures of the mountains reflecting in the almost still lake.

After our roadtrip we took a walk through Queenstown itself which is a charming little alpine village which has four ski resorts in close proximity. Unfortunately it means the price of things are astronomical and as such we had to stay quite a way out of the town itself.

We decided to go into Queenstown that evening to do what seems to be a right of passage and have a Fergburger. This place is so popular that even at lunchtime people queue out of the door just to get one of their burgers... In fairness they were pretty tasty and very good value for money!

The next day, before our flight back to Auckland we decided to walk to the top of Queenstown Hill. It's about a 3 hour round trip and the top of the hill is about 900metres above sea level. After much puffing and panting and given the weather was perfect with no clouds for miles we were lucky enough to have 360 degree views of Queenstown and the surrounding mountains.

This is the furthest place we have ever been from the UK and is probably the furthest place we will ever be away from home and so mentally we feel like our travels are slowly coming to an end even though we still have over 2 months left! Our flight to Auckland was spectacular with mountains everywhere and reminded us just how lucky we have been to be able to come travelling but also to have the weather we had the past week!
