|We had our usual leisurely breakfast overlooking the river and decided one last stroll down Sampang Lane and the little back Soi's that bustle with market holders during the week. Knowing it was Sunday and the market was closed, we slowly found out, that whilst most of the stores were closed, the streets take on a new look of what could be best described as a sales day, what happens is that all the bargains come out, the cheap bags, the cheap clothes and lots of stuff, just thrown on a tarp on the side of the footpath. Prices are a steal and the locals hunt down a bargain, the biggest bargains of all being handbags and shoes.
Having had a good run in the heat and the crowds, we called it quits, as it was time for something cold to drink and some food. We settled for a restaurant that we had been to earlier on, but this time it was lunch time and jam packed, however it was a big place and only a short wait for a table, great service, great mango smoothie and some spicy minced pork and rice in air-conditioning, thank goodness.
Back to the comfort of our guest house, air conditioning and watching life on the river.
