After a little bit of a late start, it was time to explore London. The day was a lot cooler and I wished I had worn my jeans, but did have a jacket with me thanks to Jo and Maree's advice!
After working out which trains etc I had to take to Trafalgar Square, I was off.
About 40 minutes later I was in the heart of London and had purchased my ticket for the tour bus. These buses are just wonderful, ours even had a guide giving live commentary. He was a uni student I would say and had a wickedly dry sense of humour which was very entertaining. Sadly we lost him about an hour into the trip as he was supposed to have his break. He wasn't replaced so it was back to the audio guide. This is still very good but Sam was better.
I had decided to stay on the bus for most of the day, only getting off for lunch. I wanted to catch the "Jack the Ripper" walking tour which was included in the ticket which was at 3.30pm so when we got to the closest stop at 3, I hopped off to wait.
The tour was good and informative, I wouldn't rate the guide that highly but it was still worth doing.
After the walk I was at the right place to walk to Tower Pier to hop on the ferry that would take us along the Thames river. This too was included in the ticket. The cruise was about 40 minutes long and the Captain kept us entertained the entire way with information and again a witty sense of humour.
As it was almost 6.30 I thought I would head back to Toni and Piet's place so after consulting google maps I took a bus that had me home 40 minutes later.
Both of them were back when I arrived and after they had made dinner, (a very tasty curry) we all sat down and caught up on each others news.
I look forward to the rest of my tour tomorrow.
