thatched roof

Visited Stratford on Avon today.

Birthplace of William Shakespeare.

It was teeming with people - not only is it Sunday, it's also a long weekend, being Bank Holiday Monday tomorrow. We had a walk around the market and then wandered across the bridge and found a nice little cafe on the side of the river where we had sandwiches for lunch and watch the tourists in the row and motor boats go round about.

We came across this sign while

wandering around - it's going to be a slow journey!!!

This photo

is for the calligraphers - Pen and Parchment Pub.

Then we went for another drive and found a craft place with glass blowers, wood carvers, painters, jewellery makers etc. all set in the beautiful countryside around a pond.

Onward to the next stop - a pub on the bank of a canal to quench the thirst with a pint of apple cider, and a

Walk along the tow path to watch the lock in use and lend a hand to close the gate.

Next it was time to find somewhere for dinner - you guessed it - another pub, where they serve a Sunday carvery,

wow is all I can say.

Then lovely thatched cottages along the way back to the hotel.
