17/5/2017. Daylesford to Melbourne

Bob's Birthday.

A warmish night and even the morning was not as cold as it has been. No bright sun this morning. We did our few chores and then started on our trip to Melbourne, only 114km. We left the caravan at Daylesford as there are spare beds in warm homes waiting for us in Melbourne. We took our time and had lunch at Gisborne. The scenery was outstanding, and we crested a hill just out of Gisborne and it was like we were on top of the world, overlooking the tree tops. Lots of autumn colours, mostly in the towns.

We arrived at my cousin Sue and Bob's place at 2.30pm, had a cuppa and chatted for a long time. Bob's 73 today - the numbers say he's now a year older than me!

Sue and Bob's son Adrian, and his family, and Bob's best mate from childhood days and his wife, came for dinner to celebrate with Bob. Sue made casseroles - a beef, a chicken and a curried sausage one. Guess which one I didn't eat! We had cake and I had made vanilla slice, so a lovely meal, lots of laughs and a great night. It was nice seeing the family, who always make a point of visiting when we're here. The children have grown, and aren't so shy of us now.

We finally went to bed some time after midnight!
