Storm rolling in over our camp at Tullamore showgrounds

We had quite a bit of rain overnight and we had to wait out a couple of showers to get packed up and onto the road. However, we realised that we probably had not had anywhere near the rain that had obviously fallen elsewhere. Our drive today was another cut across country – driving through Condobolin then onto Tullamore. In places, there was water lapping at the side of the road as well as laying in very soaked paddocks. We had been aiming to camp on the banks of the Lachlan River at Narromine, but given the high probability of more rain, we decided to stay at the showgrounds at Tullamore as the potential for dirt tracks long river banks being wet and muddy were not particularly appealing.

There was quite a bit of water laying around the streets if Tullamore when we first arrived, but even though the land is dead flat for miles, the ground at the showgrounds seemed fairly dry. Luckily I took the dogs for a bit of a walk and run as soon as we arrived, because, about an hour after we arrived, a thunderstorm rolled over and dumped another deluge of rain. When the rain stopped, the caravan was virtually marooned in a lake! Needless to say, we have been pretty confined to the van for the rest of the afternoon!
