There has been a bit of a disaster, I'm afraid - my laptop has gone the way all old technology goes ... to computer heaven. I was busy updating another word document blog in preparation for the next time Internet access was available when I knocked the laptop off the arm of the chair I was using as a desk, with everything that could pop out and spill all over the floor doing just that!
Choice language and judicious efforts notwithstanding, nothing and nobody seems to be able to revive the poor old thing, so retrieving my blogs and photos will have to wait until my return to the UK.
However, all is not lost as I have now purchased exercise books to handwrite my diary as I go along the 2nd and 3rd legs of the journey. So, at some point, blogs will be sent - but don't hold your breath! Using one finger typing is tedious and very taxing when wi fi keeps dropping. West African backpacker's hostels are not renowned for strong, robust anything let alone broadband!
As a very quick update - we've just finished the 1st leg of the journey and we are in Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone. Had a great time with some lovely travelling companion's - a really enjoyable trip. 3 of the group are leaving and we have 9 new joining - a FULL house with no spare seats on the truck! It's going to be an uncomfortable 4 weeks!
Hope all's well with you and yours.
