Chilli and Ruby with the Dog on the Tuckerbox at Gundagai

Campsite at Ludlow’s Reserve- Hume dam

We were just about blown down the Hume highway today. We has a good strong tail wind, so made good time as well as having good fuel consumption. We stopped for an early lunch at the Dog on the Tucker box statue just outside Gundagai. Our girls were very good sitting beside the statue to have their photo taken. We had planned to stop overnight at a spot by the Hume highway, but if there was a turnoff for it- we missed it and ended up in Wodonga about 3pm. Plan B was to camp overnight at Wodonga show grounds, but when we got there, we found they were setting up for their show that is on this weekend. So, it was out with the Wiki Camps app to see what else was around, and found a possible overnighter at Ludlow's Reserve by the Hume Dam, just about another 10k away. Well, what a magic spot it turned out to be! It was quite a bit warmer than the weather we have had in the last little while, and the wind had well and truly disappeared- so was a lovely balmy evening. It was just beautiful to be able to set up camp with water views as well as have a bit of space around us. We were able to take the dogs for quite a long walk along the edge of the dam, and they had great fun running in and out of the water. After tea, I sat outside with a cup of tea and watched the full moon rise behind the dam- the moon reflection on the water was just magic - just a perfect place to unwind and relax after a longish day on the road.
