Trip journal for 2016 -2017 travel blog

We had moved so much and saw so much in the first 5 months of this year’s journey, that we were looking forward to sitting still for a while. We have been sitting still at Sunflower RV Resort in Surprise, AZ for 1 ½ months now and it does feel good. We have managed to keep busy with all the activities available here. Ed has been playing pickleball almost every day, rides 20 miles with the Bike Club on Mondays and sometimes Fridays, and is golfing at least once a week. I have kept a lower profile and although we both play cribbage with a group on Monday nights, about the only other thing I have taken advantage of is a book club that meets every couple of weeks, and bingo on Wednesday nights. But I am enjoying the down time.

Of course, there is the Tiki Bar with live music every week night, various concerts in the Park, and other miscellaneous activities always going on around here. Really, anything you might want to do is available. The weather has been a little disappointing with more rain and cooler temps than we have experienced before, but many beautiful, sunny, warm days.

We have reconnected with friends out here and enjoyed our get-togethers for dinner, drinks, and playing cards and games. I have also been able to spend some time with my brother, Steve and his wife Carol, and my nieces Shelley and Wendy and their families. We have celebrated my great-niece Charlotte’s 3rd birthday at Chuck E Cheese and great-nephew Grant’s 1st birthday with a cookout at Wendy and Ryan’s house. It’s nice to be able to share these special moments with family.

We finally got our car into a collision shop and now it is all fixed and looking good. Even the “bullet holes” that Ed had added to the back end to cover up is previous “bumping out” job are repaired. Thanks to my brother Steve for loaning us one of his cars while ours was in the shop for 4 weeks! This week I get my eyes fixed (cataract surgery). Now, if I could only get my knees to work better I will be all set.

Sorry, no pictures this time. We can’t remember how to download off the phones. We’ll be on the lookout for a teenager to help us out! Ed’s camera bit the dust a few months back and we knew how to download those pics, but we’re out of our league for this tech knowledge. We’ve discovered that we can’t remember much anymore, including stuff we used to know, but definitely struggle in the tech area. Makes me take a softer attitude towards Ed’s mother who just couldn’t seem to figure out how to use the TV remote! I get it now!

As we learned in church this morning, whether your life is full of sunshine or rain, riches or debts, happiness or sorrow, health or sickness; God is with you through it all and will never leave you or forsake you. Wishing you all contentment wherever you may be on your life’s journey.

Till next time............................................................
