Rain at takeoff - Seattle

Icelandair checkin counter

Judi and I slept in and then made our way to the Seattle airport after finding a credit union. I had forgotten to get my tip money. We are supposed to tip $3, $4, and $7/day to various people and they are not necessarily the same people each day. So this necessitates alot of $1s. When I asked the cashier for $50 in ones, she said "Tip Money?". We were told to be at the airport 4 hours before departure which would mean 11:30 a.m. We arrived around 11:10 so we could try and get Judi C's window seat changed to an aisle seat. We found a sign informing us that the Icelandair counter would not open until 12:30. We didn't want to stand in line for an hour and 20 minutes but we also didn't want to give up being first in line which was the best chance to changing Judi's seat. The only places to sit anywhere near the counter were all marked "handicap" wherever you looked. As we decided to go find someplace to sit and comeback later, the crew walked up and opened the gate at 11:40. All was in vain because Judi was told the flight was full and there was no way to change her seat. So we headed off to the Dungeness Bay restaurant for some seafood and wine and Judi called Icelandair and was able to get an aisle seat for her return home. As the plane was taking off, I noticed an empty aisle seat a few rows back and asked the flight attendant if we could have it. She said we could but Judi graciously gave it to the lady who was between us (I was in the same row and had the aisle seat) who seemed to need it more than she did. We ordered a couple bottles of wine and settled in for our 7 hour flight. JB
