Drive through Oregon & Idaho

Snake River Canyon

At The Canyon Bridge

Base Jumpers

We were up early once again and on the road before 7:00 am as we did not unhook the truck the previous night. The first part of the pull was a challenge as we pulled up Immigrant Pass in NE Oregon from about 500 ft. to 4,500 ft. The truck handled the pull ok but it was 12 straight miles of steady climbing. From there we followed I-84 through Oregon, past Boise, Idaho and on to Twin Falls, Idaho.

At Twin Falls we stopped to admire the magnificent view of the Snake River Canyon and were treated to a display of base-jumpers parachuting into the canyon from the highway bridge. We were told that this was one of three places that it is legal to base-jump. The canyon is quite impressive and made headlines when Evil Knievil tried unsuccessfully to jump the canyon in his rocket propelled motorcycle a number of years ago.

From Twin Falls we travelled a few miles to the south and stayed in another casino RV Park in Jackpot, NV on the Idaho/Nevada border but this time we paid to park, cooked for ourselves and left out the gambling.
