10th November – Wollongong Builders Club, Sausage Singlet and Ulladulla….

We took Mum & Dad to Wollongong for lunch with their Son in Law better known as Eric, wait I’m Eric too… Oh does it matter? We had a great meet up anyway but the geriatrics are both slowing down they only ate a moderate amount but Mum did manage to pocket some food for their dinner….

Yesterday we drove down to Sussex to see if we could get some stuff for the kids at Ocean & Earth outlet. Unfortunately there is no real sale; the prices seemed to be more than you can get in shops…… Sussex hasn’t changed since Gracie dragged me along the ground as a pup… It always has the ambience of a 1950’s holiday town, none of the caravan parks inspired us to want to go there.

Today we picked up Mum & Dad around 10:30 and headed off to Ulladulla though Dad had forgotten a) we were still at Greenwell Point, b) we were taking them for a drive and c) he said that had been there 2 weeks ago………………

Anyway after detouring to have a poke around Huskisson we got to Ulladulla and went directly to the Ex Servos Club for lunch. I then drove out to Warden Head lighthouse for a look; last time I there I didn’t have a digital camera…

Originally built on the Ulladulla Breakwater in 1873, the light was shifted to Warden Head in 1879. It is one of only two towers in New South Wales made from wrought iron plates, making it a rarity.

In 1920, the original oil lamp was replaced with a flashing light powered by acetylene gas for automatic operation, and the station was unmanned. The next conversion was to electricity in 1964. The light is now battery operated and float charged from 240 volt mains supply.

The old lead paint was removed in 2008 and it was repainted with Hi-Tech stuff and now needs a complete refurb…

Next stop was the Heritage Bakery at Milton for some goodies for afternoon tea and Mum wanted some “tarts’ for her dinner…..

Now we are back at the van and have packed away our awning and other impedimenta in readiness for departure to Gordon in the morning.

Sadly our holiday is at an end….
