The Golden Age at Omeo....

22nd October - Wangaratta and the tres pretentious Milawa Gourmet Region…

This morning it was Amulet Wines for some of their cider. They make a red and a white … The red is interesting and the sales lady was waiting for me to describe how it felt on the palate (wet) and could I taste the Muscatel??? Err ahh Oh yes there’s a hint isn’t there… Would you like to come in for lunch today, we have an excellent menu featuring local produce…. So can someone tell me where you get Flathead locally???

I bought some of each….

Then it was into Wangaratta for a look around. I needed to buy a couple of globes for my fog lights and a loose hair getter outer for Gracie…

It was about time for the luncheon adjournment then so we started looking for a café and ended up at the Intermezzo in the Arts Precinct. Really good meals ruined by lashings of Balsamic dressing, it was over everything and soaked into my Foccacia which otherwise was outstanding….

We returned to Beechworth via Milawa Gourmet Region. No more Cider here and if there had been it would have had to have pimento or mustard added to it… At the Cheese Factory we sampled the goods and settled on some of the Cheddar and a wheel of Brei and Camembert (On sale for $5). The samples are cut for you to eliminate people stuffing their pockets full like they do at Tilba and Kenilworth… I suppose that will be me one day on a bus laden with geriatrics all looking for their next free samples.

Not sure what we will do tomorrow but I’d like to look around Beechworth more closely, maybe visit the Chinese Burning Towers and the Gorge…
