|Oct 17 and Oct 18 Another travel day, with a stop in Seligman on Route 66. Sure wish we had more time to travel Rt. 66. We made it into Verde Valley and our campground.
The next day we went down to Prescott Valley to see Don and Diane. We went to the Sharlot Hall Museum. It’s really a campus of buildings and we went through them all. The first was a history of Arizona from the mammoths that roamed the country side to the Indians and their culture. The next was the first governor’s mansion. It was a log house that was bigger than any I have ever seen. And there were docents in each building to tell you about that building.
We went into the Sharlet Hall Museum next which was built as a log building that contained exhibits depicting mining, Indians, farming and ranching, and locale history. We toured some more and ended up in the transportation building. There they had a stage coach that had bullet holes and blood from the Clanton gang and the Earp brothers! But they had sent it out to be cleaned up and painted!!!! Such a travesty. It was now a Wells Fargo stage coach.
