|Wednesday 5th October - Toowoomba to home
As soon as we started the long 2nd gear roll down the Main Range it seemed like we were almost home. All good things come to an end, and this holiday is no different.
From 10th Aug through to 5th Oct we’ve experienced the following ……… been away 8 weeks, 56 nights - - covered 5000 kms (actually 5km under that), - - had the company of 4 great friends over those 8 weeks - - replaced 1 blown-to-bits tyre, - - turned a microwave into a bread storage bin
- stayed in the following places for 3 nights or more making a very relaxing schedule ……… Hervey Bay, Maleny, Bigriggen (Rathdowney), Tenterfield, Warialda, Lake Keepit, Temora, Cowra and Toowoomba
- events we never expected or perhaps never even knew about ……… the Qld Arborists competition, Tamrookum Robotic Dairy, drive 36kms for a laundromat, visit Texas Rabbit freezing works, visit the Bruderhoff community, watching gliders at Keepit, lush green all through NSW and full dams from the extraordinary rainfall over the previous 6 weeks, vast numbers of canola fields in bloom with yellow flowers, seeing the Gulgong Opera House, Ron blowing 0.000 in the Gulgong pub breathalyser just to make sure he can drive to the next town, meeting the young USA Mennonite lad in Gooloogong, camping on a wet, boggy green “sponge” at Temora, watching the Temora war birds, seeing model jet aircraft fly, floods everywhere southern NSW, watching liquorice being made, seeing a Railway Roundhouse, having SES pull us out of the “bog”, the Cherry Blossom festival in Cowra, just missing being involved in Cowra caravan park evacuation, hot pools in Moree, Flowers in Toowoomba, and our “Would you Believe It” day yesterday
And to you who have read this diatribe, thanks for coming along. We hope you’ve shared some of the fun and excitement. Let’s get together again some time.
Bye for now. Ron n Jan.
P.S. Wonder what’s in the diary for tomorrow. Ah well. Better get back into it.
