|September 2nd Leaving Tenterfield
Today we awoke to a chilly morning which quickly warmed up as we drove along. Even the horses must be pleased it is spring as we watched two of them running and seemingly playing in the paddock across from us. The views of the countryside were lovely with the mountains in the distance and masses of wonderful yellow wattle on both sides of the road. We were heading for Ashford via Bonshaw, but just prior to the turn off to Ashford Ron G. who was in the lead pulled over to the side of the road and as we pulled in behind him we discovered he had blown a caravan tyre to pieces. Now to we four who have done the Carnarvon Road together this felt like a bit of Deja Vu. After about an hour and a half work in replacing the wheel a detour to Texas was required. Once there they managed to get a new tyre and we decided it was a good time to stay at the Texas free stay on the Dumaresq River. Although the site is large it has a lot of vans pulled in for the night.
Well we can't say the day was boring!
