We visited the Siskiyou County Museum today, both the inside and outside. Both were awesome, we enjoyed the outside village with the old school and log cabins the most. The Siskiyou County Museum is a county facility and with the assistance of the Siskiyou County Historical Society and house a wonderful collection of artifacts, photographs, and ephemera. The Museum was built in 1950 by the county and together the Historical Society and Museum aim to collect, preserve, disseminate, and interpret the history of the area for future generations. Included in the small admission price of $3 each is a 2 1/2 acre Outdoor Museum which fosters an appreciation of Siskiyou County heritage through authentic and reconstructed buildings set in replicated environment.
Galleries inside include:
Native American Indian Gallery
Gold Mining Exhibit
Chinese in Siskiyou County
Pioneer Settlement Gallery
Timber in Siskiyou County
Period Rooms: 1900 kitchen and parlor
We enjoyed it much and hope you enjoy all the pictures. We will be on the road again on Friday, check back later for more.
