An easy drive & we got here before lunch. I heard about this place from people I talked to in Cooktown & it sounded intriguing. It’s only 12 km from Mareeba, so quite convenient & the landscape is amazing.

A comfortable caravan park with good facilities & the bonus is that they have a single rate of $16 a night – stay a week & get the 7th night free so it’s only $96 for the week, a real bargain.

There’s all kinds of wildlife here including a colony of rare Mareeba rock wallabies which are so tame that you almost have to kick them off the track to get past them.

Alexander is kept busy watching all the bird life. Apart from the birds in the trees, there are peacocks, ducks, a turkey & chooks of all shapes & sizes roaming around plus cages with cockies & parrots. Most of them are bigger than him so he’s quite happy keeping an eye on them from the safety of the caravan.
