The Bloomfield Falls

Another change since I was last here is that the road south along the coast to Cairns (the Bloomfield Track) is now sealed all the way to Bloomfield Falls. Coming north it’s sealed to Cape Tribulation so there’s only a stretch of 36km of 4WD track.

I’m told that this stretch has a couple of nasty creek crossings so who knows when it will go all the way through. That route to Cairns is about 100 km shorter than the current inland road so would be very popular with caravanners.

Today I drove the 80 km to Bloomfield Falls which was all new country to me, mostly through beautiful rain forest. It was a lovely drive & the falls were spectacular.
