Shirley's Trip to Queensland 2016 travel blog

There’s some very unusual & very nasty weather forecast so I’m not sure what the next few days will bring.

I woke up early & was on the road by 8:00am, heading north again to a small place about 50 km south of Mackay, called Armstrong’s Beach.

I wasn’t too sure about it because when I called to book, I was told the only site they had available was under some trees. There’s strong winds & lots of rain forecast so it didn’t sound too good but Armstrong’s Beach was only 8 km off the highway so I drove in there to have a look.

The bloke agreed with me that the site wasn’t ideal, in fact the park had signs everywhere to beware of falling limbs & as it was only about 11:30, I decided to go on to Mackay. I’m staying at a nice park near the marina, adjacent to some wetlands which are full of birds of all varieties.

It hasn’t started raining yet but it’s forecast to come in soon & the weather radar looks ominous.
