Sunset over the St Lawrence River from Clayton, NY

Boldt Castle

Touring 1000 islands today. We have caught up with summer - 87 yesterday going to 93 today. One a/C in the RV will not keep up. We are camped at a small campground/RV park just outside Clayton, NY.

We started our adventure of 1000 islands, with a 2.5 hour boat tour starting in the little town of Alexandria Bay. We had a beautiful sunny, and warm day for our boat tour. We really enjoyed the tour along the American side of the river and later along the Canadian side of the river. After the tour we had refreshments and drove over to Gananoque, but did not stop to explore. On the way back to the RV, we found the Clayton distillery and bought a bottle of Clayton bourbon. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the St Lawrence River from the downtown area of Clayton, which had a very nice area set up with chairs.

We explored further from Clayton by driving to the little town of Cape Vincent and found a nice coffee shop where we talked with the proprietor, who is French Canadian, and we also found the Tibetts Point lighthouse. On our wanderings outside of Cape Vincent we discovered the Cape Winery and enjoyed the wine and the conversation with the staff. The next day we explored further and found the little town of Sackets Harbor and explored the battlefield from War of 1812.

As you might expect, we found several ice cream shops in the area
