Illingworth New Zealand 2016 travel blog

Woke to a very cold morning. The grass was white from frost, but the sky was nice & clear, hence the cold temperature.

Got on the road about 9.30 to make our way to Franz Joseph Glacier. Today is our biggest driving day with us travelling approx 390km. This not like driving at home, were this would take about 4 hours...

We stopped briefly at Hokitika. Fay this is where we got the penguins for you last time. They have an amazing glass figurine/bowl/ormanents etc shop here. We had to make a purchase to support the local community, so I decided on a couple of kiwi's in memory of trip...

After a quick bite for lunch we hit the road again & got into Franz Joseph about 4.10. We headed straight to the place to book our Heli Hike for tomorrow. Well this was a mission, as we needed to book with sister company, as the company we wanted to book through are booked out for at least the next 4 days...Bugger... Anyway, we are booked in for tomorrow at 12.30, so all is good...

We are now settled in for the night, in our Rainforest Retreat, as it is rather chilli again.
