Duck Fart Shot Recipe

Unfortunately, our Whale Watching excursion was cancelled due to winds and rough water in Juneau this morning. We decided to ride the Mount Roberts Tramway then walk around downtown Juneau. Since this is the state capital, it is much larger, more developed and modern than the other towns we have visited. As it is accessible only by air or water, a few locals from our previous stops have told us that they have never been to Juneau.

The Red Dog Saloon was our choice for lunch. It was a chance for Randy to have a few Alaskan Amber beers….his favorite craft beer here in Alaska. It was a cool bar with fun antique decorations, sawdust floors, swinging doors and a piano player just like the old saloons of the mining era. Strangely, the Red Dog Saloon is known for their “Duck Fart” shots (Crown Royal, Bailey’s and Kahlua). It is believed that one of the cities founders, Joe Juneau, convinced the town to change the name of the city from Harrisburg to Juneau with a round of “Duck Farts” at the bar. LOL
