Our trip from Bakersfield to Madera, CA was a short 143 miles that only took a little over 2½ hours up the 99 through the Central Valley. Like most CA highways, there were good portions and teeth-rattling portions of that highway. I don't believe it is possible for the state to ever get their infrastructure back in good shape! About all we saw today was pistachio groves and vineyards with a few orange groves here and there. We believe most of the grapes grown in this region are used for raisins as the Sunmaid plant is along this route as well.
We are staying at the Madera Mobile Home and RV Park
which was the Country Living Mobile Home and RV Park when we last visited in 2013 - new name, same park. We have a very narrow, full hookup pull-through with 50 amps which, if it were raining, would be very muddy. It's the only game in town, so little choices without driving quite a bit farther. We do have strong Verizon and a clear shot to the satellite.
We leave tomorrow for Napa to spend two nights there. Maybe the scenery will improve once we get into the bay area a bit.
