Petroglyphs

Oh, lonesome us

Well we stayed a whole week at Gilbert Ray Park because it is a very nice park and so many opportunities to explore the area and go for long morning walks. One morning for 2.5 hours because we got hopelessly lost. Yesterday we found another Calvary Chapel and enjoyed a wonderful time of worship and praise as well meeting brothers and sisters we did not know yet.

Today we are on the road and our final destination is Painted Rock State Park. State and National Parks are our preferred camping areas, they might not have all the necessary hook-ups for water, sewer and electric but since we are completely self-contained, we can easily stay away from services for 3-4 nights.

Painted Rock Park contains a pile of rocks with Petroglyphs inscribed in them, messages from tribes who lived in these areas many 100s of years ago and the meaning of all the symbols are not always clear although some are crude drawings of animals in the area. The campground here is in the middle of the desert but we do have company from a few other adventure seekers.
