Shirley's trip to South Australia & beyond travel blog

The view from Mount Defiance

The beach at Wye River

Yesterday afternoon when I was taking Alexander for his walk, there was a bloke who was having trouble setting up his tent by himself so I offered to help. When we’d sorted out the tent, he asked me if I liked drinking Champagne, which was a silly thing to say, then in thanks for my help, he offered to share a drink after he’d got himself unpacked.

Later on he arrived with a bottle of Mumm’s Cordon Rouge, so certainly understood how to get Shirley’s attention. He’s a nice bloke but a real foodie & I think a bit pretentious but OK to have a drink with.

Today was sunny although I think it only got to the mid-20s – much more comfortable than the 40s they’re enjoying again in Mildura. I drove along the Ocean Road to Wye River where we spent many Christmas holidays before we started coming to Lorne. There’s more houses there but the place really hasn’t changed at all.

It was still quite hazy so not particularly good for photos but the weather is forecast to get a bit warmer over the weekend. Who knows? I might even go for a swim.
