Food is very important to the culture of Hong Kong. There are restaurants everywhere and you will see people gather over meals all over the city. People are spoiled for choice in HK as there are restaurants to fit any budget or foodie fancy. Hotel luxury restaurants are also plentiful and tourists and locals alike will often patronize hotel restaurants for their quality offerings. We often ate with family and friends and would linger for up to two hours at a meal. There are so many choices and options available. I tend to favor the local favorites and simple meals. You can spend about $3 USD for a local mom and pop restaurant as long as you know the menu or can read/speak Chinese. However, it is very easy to spend $100 USD per person even just for high tea in places like Peninsula Hotel famous for their afternoon tea.
